March Matness at Love Pilates

March is our favorite time of year – March Matness when we celebrate the foundation of it all:

the Pilates mat.

If you’ve ever wondered why we care so much about the mat… this is why.

Lea’s journey is a beautiful reminder that mat work isn’t “just” mat work. It’s where connection begins. It’s where strength is rebuilt. It’s where healing happens.

Join Lea on the mat this March and experience the power of Pilates in its purest form. Whether you’re brand new or have been practicing for years, this is your invitation to reconnect to your body, your breath, and your strength.

Change Happens Through Movement

“Change happens through movement and movement heals.” – Joseph Pilates

“I started on the mat in January 2013, and I never really left it.

In 2012, I was diagnosed with MS, a degenerative disease. Ironically, it came about when I was at the height of my jogging career. It turns out my central nervous system managed to overload and short circuit. The jogging and high-impact activity, combined with the stress of life, pushed me over an edge. All the while, I believed I was doing the right things.

I was 26 years young.

Truth be told, I didn’t really understand my body.

Through Pilates, specifically mat Pilates, my beliefs changed, and my view on fitness and health changed with them.

Pilates mat taught me how to control my body, not let my body control me. I learned how precision and small movements can create big changes. The practice showed me balance in a holistic sense, with deeper meaning and understanding. I discovered breath work and the strength it provides.

Most importantly, I learned how to connect my mind to my body.

I vowed never to stray far from that skill, so I learned to instruct it.

I believe I have healed from this diagnosis. I still have an issue from time to time, but who doesn’t? For now, my body is as strong as it’s ever been. I have no pain, and my practice has become the main supplement to my active lifestyle.

I am a forever learner, and I will continue to evolve.

Plus, I’m having just as much fun as I ever have, I just see through a different filter now. My priorities have been renewed: good nutrition and principled movement, first and foremost.

I love instructing Pilates. I get excited for each class because I’m able to challenge my clients, see their eyes light up when they succeed, and watch them rise and overcome, stronger and more confident than ever.

For that, I am proud.

And for that, Pilates has shown me my purpose.” ~Lea
